The ABST offer support for student and trainee bakers across the UK & Ireland. The primary aim of the ABST is to offer guidance to their student members through networking at their annual conference. Students are able to speak direct to the bakery industry with regard to job or work experience opportunities.
ABST Conference 2025
The 2025 conference was held at Alton Towers Hotel on from 13th – 15th June. The winners of the 2025 abim book prizes are as follows:
Archie Steele, from Blackpool College
Winner of the BSB Trophy and the Masters Award for the Best Loaf in Show for his 4-piece lidded sandwich loaf.
Jennifer Mcnish, from Blackpool College
Winner of the Horton Trophy for her 800g white bloomer loaf.
Ethan Avis, from Blackpool College
Winner of the Masters Cup, for his 800g white cob, 400g wholemeal tin loaf (also best wholemeal in show), and 400g 4-strand plait.
Dee Peacock, from the National Bakery School at LSBU
Winner of the Lesaffre Sourdough Challenge Trophy for her 500g sourdough loaf.
Aisha Bakare, from Tameside College
Winner of the Presidents Cup for the National Loaf and fondant fancies.
ABST Conference 2026
This year ABST conference will take place on Friday 19th - Saturday 20th June 2026, at East Midlands Conference Centre.

The ABST Committee also welcome Student Reps from each College or University to join on board; this enables their students to have an insight into how the ABST function and it also is a great asset to add to their CV.
